Arban and the call for progress: inspired by Saint-Saëns, he makes a final push for a C cornet—an effort that would ultimately fail.
The informations we were able to collect on the famous French virtuoso of the cornet à pistons allowed us to reconstruct in broad line the maestro’s life and character. Owing to his famous «Grande Méthode complète pour cornet à pistons et de saxhorns» (1864), this artist has had — more than anyone else — immense influence on thousands of brass players during the last century.
