Bring Brass Bulletin to your university, conservatory or library. The historical collection spans 124 issues published between 1971 and 2003, with more than 1,200 articles on brass performance, teaching, instrument making and research.
Original articles restored for the web
Our historical digitization programme focuses on restoring the original articles as searchable text, readable directly on the website alongside their illustrations.
Scanned magazine PDFs are also available as facsimiles of the original publication. These complement the web articles and preserve the original page layouts.
Article restoration is ongoing: not every historical article is available as web text yet. Completion of the historical article digitization programme is planned for February 2028. See what’s already available and what’s coming next in our digitization roadmap.
New articles alongside the historical collection
Brass Bulletin will also publish newly written articles from 2027 onward, continuing its coverage of brass performance, teaching, instrument making and research. Institutional subscriptions include both the restored historical collection and new articles published during the subscription term.
What the subscription includes
- Access to all currently available subscription web articles and magazine PDFs.
- Newly restored historical articles and new editorial content published during the subscription.
- Content in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish; language availability varies by article.
- Browsing by author, instrument, topic and year.
- Campus-wide access for authorized users, with unlimited simultaneous use.
- No setup or additional access fees.
Institutional access
Access is provided through registered institutional IP ranges, without requiring individual accounts. Remote access through an institution-controlled proxy or VPN is subject to compatibility verification. SAML and OpenAthens are not currently supported.
One-, two- and three-year subscriptions are available. Prices are quoted in Swiss francs (CHF) and fixed for the agreed term. Renewal requires written agreement. Perpetual access is not currently offered.
Free 30-day trial
Your institution can explore the collection through a complimentary 30-day campus-wide trial. Trial dates are agreed in advance, and the trial begins once access has been activated and verified.
There is no purchase obligation or automatic conversion to a paid subscription. Access expires at the end of the trial unless a subscription or extension is separately agreed in writing.
Licensing and accessibility
A proposed institutional subscription agreement and a preliminary accessibility assessment are available to download below for review by libraries and procurement teams.
Historical scanned PDFs and some other content have known accessibility limitations. The assessment describes the testing performed, known limitations and remaining evaluation work. Please contact us to discuss specific access needs.
