As announced in our last issue, we now present you Brass Bulletin in its new aspect. It is a complete change, in- and outside. We musicians always try to change — we do so constantly in our daily work — we have to, really, in order to improve our technique and to always perfect our interpretation, our musical understanding and performing. We therefore know that changing means renewing oneself, shifting one's point of observation so that new views and ideas have a chance of bursting forth, obliging us to change our rusty opinions and habitual attitudes and actions. Our new point of observation allows us to get a good survey of the past, a clear view of the present and a scent for the future.

It is true that to change also means that one has to break with dear old habits and with a balance that one took some time in establishing. So if we change we must be convinced that it is for the better. Only then shall we be able to surmount the obstacles, difficulties and risks that every change brings with it.

We decided to change Brass Bulletin, being convinced that our new presentation will greatly improve communication between us all. But one thing that does not change is the need of mutual cooperation between us. We need your informations, your ideas, critical and other views, so as to find a way into the future for all of us, musicians. So please let us have your texts!

If Brass Bulletin is to your liking, then let others share the pleasure and oblige us at the same time by bringing new subscribers. Just let all your friends pass through your mind and jot down the names of those that you think might also enjoy and subscribe to Brass Bulletin. Contact them right away or send us the addresses.

Sorry to make you work so hard, but then: we do need more subscribers. Thank you!

Sincerely,
Jean-Pierre Mathez
