BRASS BULLETIN 3 has come out. If you liked the first three issues, hasten to subscribe to the next three, which will all appear in 1973. Price: SFr. 18.– ($ 5.00). We bid a hearty welcome to new subscribers!

BRASS BULLETIN introduces herewith two collaborators:

Jean-Jacques PFISTER, trumpeter, pupil of Paolo Longinotti of the Geneva Conservatoire. He played for many years in the Swiss orchestras of Biel and Bern (opera) and spent three years as solo trumpet in the Gulbenkian Orchestra in Portugal. Mr. Pfister now joins our staff, taking upon himself the editorial part, the translations and the bibliographic and discographic sections. He also assists at BIM.

Edward H. TARR studied trumpet with Roger Voisin in Boston and Adolph Herseth in Chicago and musicology with Prof. Leo Schrade in Basel. He has made more than 50 recordings. Besides being a very busy concert player, Mr. Tarr dedicates himself to the study and research of music for trumpet and teaches at the Schola Cantorum, Basel. We rely upon his help in the fields of musicology and English translations.

We hope to be able to introduce to you in a few months’ time our collaborators for the horn, the trombone and the tuba.

At this point we feel we have to elucidate our attitude and policy concerning commercial advertisements in our periodical. There is no doubt that such advertisements would mean substantial financial support for BRASS BULLETIN. By accepting them, however, we lose our independence: in our articles and reviews we would have to show consideration for our advertisers (editors, instrument makers, recording firms, etc.), which would impair the impartiality of our judgement. Since that is exactly what we do NOT want, we have no other alternative but subscriptions and donations.

Consequently: if you want an impartial opinion or information, subscribe to BRASS BULLETIN.

If you want industry and commerce to rely upon and reckon with our impartial judgement, subscribe to BRASS BULLETIN.

If you want to read interesting articles written by colleagues about their special experiences, researches and opinions, subscribe to BRASS BULLETIN.

If you just want something enjoyable to read or are curious to know what goes on in the international brass music world, subscribe to BRASS BULLETIN.

And last but not least: if you want to take part in the creation of a worldwide net of brass players, enjoy contact with them and interchange ideas, subscribe to BRASS BULLETIN.

BRASS BULLETIN is a periodical written by musicians for musicians. It will continue to exist with your cooperation only.

It is YOUR scientific and technical information.
