The club organised the first national brass competition in 1976 and helped to set up the first national horn competition in Mikkeli in 1985.
Finnish horn players have been represented at all the major international events (Montreux, Trossingen, Avignon and Vienna).
All foreign horn players travelling to Finland are accorded a welcome and a celebration.
The association has published a book on the horn (in Finnish), issued a record of Finnish horn music and produced a series of radio recordings.
Thanks to the Horn Club Wives Association young students coming from remote parts of the country receive financial assistance with their travelling and tuition costs.
The Club takes an active part in Lieksa Brass Week (new masterclass in 1986).
In 1987 the Scandinavian Horn Seminar will once again be held in Finland; all non-Scandinavians interested will be welcome!
